Do you have bad
skin? Be it eczema, psoriasis, dry skin or bad acne, chances are you are at
your wits end. You have probably tried every lotion, pill and cream but nothing
is working.
Bad skin can leave
you feeling frustrated and miserable. Furthermore, it might be having a major
impact on your confidence. It can even get to the stage where it’s embarrassing
to go out in public. You feel as though all eyes are on you.
As with all health
challenges, there is a root cause. Skin problems stem from systemic low grade inflammation.
This basically means that there is something that is triggering the
inflammatory response. It’s great we have inflammation because it allows our
body to heal when we cut ourselves or need to recover from an operation. When
the inflammation continues, this is when health issues can arise.
A report from the
British Journal of Nutrition states that a diet high in processed meat, refined sugar and wheat plus dairy may induce
inflammation particularly in the cells of the blood vessel walls, and the
nutrients designed to neutralise free radicals such as the antioxidant vitamins
C, E and the mineral selenium required for optimal immune function and prevention of
disease are lacking.
The conclusion was,
the best way to get these nutrients is through whole foods, fruit, vegetables
and fish. These foods are associated with lower concentrations of inflammatory
markers.
If you are prone to
skin outbreaks and you consume a diet low in fresh fruit and vegetables, the
production of circulating inflammatory markers is likely to be higher.
The next step then
is to improve your diet. This alone can make a significant difference to your
health and confidence. Its human nature to want to look and feel your best – look
good and you will feel good…that is a well known fact.
You can have clear,
radiant, glowing skin and it all starts by changing what you eat.
